RAL Photography Group
The Rappahannock Art League Photography Group grew out of a 2011 RAL photography workshop called Beyond Snapshots, which is a pretty good description of what we’re about. We offer opportunities to get together with other digital photographers, from beginners to professionals, to learn and practice ways to take and make better photos. Whether you take photos with your phone, a point-and-shoot, a mirrorless camera, or a DSLR, our group will give you the opportunity to share and expand your interest in photography.
We have regular monthly meetings from September through May at the Rappahannock Art League Studio Gallery in Kilmarnock, Virginia. First we view and comment on photos we shot for our monthly assignment. A photography-related presentation follows the Show & Tell.
We also offer a variety of optional photography related programs, called Meetups, at other times throughout the year. RALPG Meetups include group photo shoots, workshops, classes, video presentations, demonstrations and field trips.
Members may enter their work in RAL’s annual photography exhibit, where professional photographers or photo editors judge and award ribbons and cash prizes. Our members may also enter other photography-eligible RAL exhibitions throughout the year.
Join our group to:
- Meet and make friends with other photographers
- Get out and about the Northern Neck to shoot interesting subjects
- Learn and apply basic, advanced, and artistic photography techniques and concepts
- Take your photography Beyond Snapshots
- And have fun!
The RAL Photography Group meets from 4pm to 6pm at the Studio Gallery on the third Monday of the month from September through May, except in January and February, when the meeting takes place the Monday after the Martin Luther King and George Washington Birthday holidays. Admission is $2. Guests are welcome anytime. Visit the Rapphannock Art League Photo Group Meetup website for information about upcoming activities.
