Lost Films of the Northern Neck
James Pollard Wharton died in 1992, leaving behind more than twenty hours of silent 16mm films and reel-to-reel audio tapes. He spent most of his life at Wharton Grove in Weems, Virginia. James recorded everyday life during the Great Depression with a 16mm camera. His "Northern Neck Movies" played at local community centers for the admission of 15 to 25 cents to the delight of locals, family and friends.
In conjunction with May's exhibit, The Wharton Films Project, May's Art Talk will cover the history and the future of these important films.
Speakers: Joni Carter and Clyde Radcliffe
